Guy, a small time gambler gets to play the biggest game of his life.
Unfortunately, the player he beats is an ancient vampire. Enraged, the vampire and his motley crew give chase, but Guy manages to escape to the refuge of a local Church.

Safely inside Guy meets the Reverend and his young congregation. But after the Reverend is bitten and becomes crazed with “The Blood Lust,” he soon discovers that the congregation hides a sinister secret.

HIGH STAKES was shot on location in Penarth/ Cardiff South Wales in mid April 2006 and is a unique low budget project.

Director Peter Ferris of Nutopia Chang has acting credits for producing The Last Unicorn, Directing Unusual Requests, and as an actor in Feature Films such as Skulduggery, Shoot to Kill, as well as Television, Theatre and Music Productions Worldwide. Peter cast many of the actors from the Nutopia Chang Screen Acting classes, based in both London and Cardiff and also the Nutopia Chang Actors Agency.

Producer Dewi Griffiths of Garland Stone Productions has experience across the world on top end drama productions as varied as The X Files, Merchant Ivory films & Dream Team, which enabled him to bring together a top rate crew whose recent credits include such productions as The Hills Have Eyes, Dr. Who, Footballers Wives & Bad Girls. Supplementing the crew were students from The University of Glamorgan’s Film Academy and Film & TV Design degree, along with students from The International Film School Wales, Newport.

Executive Producer Danny Chang, (Oscar and Bafta nominee) is also producing the film’s soundtrack.

HIGH STAKES is aimed at a release at the end of this year with the film being sold and distributed internationally at Cannes in May 2007.
